Swimmers Advice

Please let us remind you that before your Channel Crossing can take place YOU MUST have
* Purchased a valid CCA information pack, and returned to the CCA Secretary all paperwork as set out in the pack - before any specified :cut off@ date 1st april, and paid any fees due to the CCA
* returned your fully completed Medical Form(as soon as possible, please ... as the CCA office staff have to process this)

Drug Testing

please be advised that during or after the swim you may be required to provide samples of the food and drink you consume during the swim ... or other materials as requested

For your benefit

Please ensure that you have aranged Adequate insurance to cover those periods when you are being carried as a passenger on any of the pilot boats and against losses you may incur as a result of your iability to honour your contract, as no refund or fee-waiver other than as specified in a written contract) will be made if you decide to cancel or abort the swim

Reminder

Remember
**...you must establish a Feeding Regime which will suppy your energy requirements for the duration of the swim. Your helpers must be fully equiped and able to pass food and drink to you while you swim.
**...You will need to be Fully accustomed to swimming in cold water and to what effect this will have on your nutritional requirments?
**...Be prepared for the fact that, due to proir passage of vessels in the Channel, sudden upsurges of very cold water from the sea-bed may occur without warning.
**...you will need to be acccustomed to swimming in the dark - and have supplies of light sticks.
**...You must have adequate supplies of grease.

Most importantly

As a skipper i look forward to helping you to be successful and will support you and your team and encourage you as much as possible - but will not permit excessive pressure to be put on you to continue against your express wishes or contary to you best interests and safety.

Safety

My role ie to provide the safety vessel and crew and to escort you to your best advantage during your attempt to make the crossing - and you will be given every encouragment to complete the swim ... but neither I, nor anyone else on board will over-ride your considered decision to terminate the swim. A clear request from you to come on board will result in your immediate recovery from the water.
in any event i will not hesitate to stop your swim if your condition give cause for serious concern ... or if, for any reason, you become unable to maintain lucid communication with the pilot.
